Jorhat Engineering College was set up by the government of Assam on the 10th october 1960 for providing an efficient system of education and to cater to the needs of the technical man power in the north eastern region of the country. Initiated with the Civil Engineering department, the college now offers four-year undergraduate courses in five disciplines, viz. Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering and Mechanical Engineering and one three-year post graduate course leading to M.C.A degree.
